Secrets to Confident Public Speaking

I just wrote this for Inside HR/NY, the newsletter of the Human Resources Association of New York: “You’re about to take a seat at your organization’s town hall meeting when the new CEO text messages you, ‘Stuck at JFK. Pls. kick off mtg.’ Your knees turn to jelly and your mouth feels as if you just inhaled a peanut butter sandwich—without the jelly. ‘CU soon,’ adds the CEO. ‘Not B4 I die!’ you think.” To the rescue are three of my former NYU graduate students—HR pros at Tiffany & Co., Telecom Italia, and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. Check out page six for their lifesaving tips in “How to Become a Confident Speaker—or Get to Carnegie Hall.”
